With the Pandemic of Covid19 spread around the world, we are all witnessing the surreal images of a society that seem to have come to a standstill with empty streets, quiet cities, deserted airports and closed bars and restaurants. There are many stories of our frontliner doctors and nurses sacrificing themselves in the peak of the medical chaos, risking their everyday lives to help others without proper protection.
From all around the world like Dr Li Wenliang who fought bravely in China's epicenter of the outbreak till his passing; Giuseppe Lanati, pneumonologist also came out of retirement to put on his stethoscope in Italy to fight the battle till his passing; and Dr Adil El Tayar, a transplant surgeon in the UK battled alongside many others in a stretched thin hospital till he passed on as well. And to the many nurses who have sadly lost the battle against the deadly coronavirus, we thank you.
It’s humbling to think that there are literally millions of stories like these around the world right now. We feel incredibly grateful to every single doctor, nurse, paramedic and even the hospital cleaners as well as all the personals working in medical facilities and hospitals; working around the clock, pushing themselves to the limit and putting their lives on the line, often with limited resources – you are the true heroes.
